Project Description

Biscayne Landing is a 194 acre mixed-use public/private partnership development in North Miami, Florida. This is a current on-going project (anticipated 10-12 year build out). The project is unique in that it involves the design and construction of the facilities and infrastructure over the old Munisport Landfill. The landfill debris poses significant issues to the geotechnical design of building foundations and infrastructure. Buildings will be supported on Augered Cast-In-Place piles and Dynamic Compaction is being used to densify the landfill debris in infrastructure and roadway easements.

Task assignments have included a wide range of URS services from the initial site geotechnical investigation and materials testing, environmental assessments and the preparation of over-all aerial/topographic map for the entire 194 acres. Additional tasks include the overall project master water plan, master sewer plan, master grading plan including cut/fill analysis and; traffic analysis for entire project to establish on-site and off-site roadway lane requirements and roadway design. This work included geotechnical investigations and assessments for signalized intersections, improvements to US1 (Biscayne Blvd.) to support projected traffic volumes. The work will also include the complete final site civil design, permitting and construction administration services for the 30 acre Town Center Parcel (including hotel, condominiums, retail, parking garage, etc.) and the 15 acre Towers 5 and 6 parcel (twin 25 story condominiums and townhouses).

Project involves coordination with FDOT, City of North Miami, Miami-Dade WASD, Florida DEP, Miami-Dade DERM. Other assignments included environmental engineering for establishing wetland delineation lines, wetland monitoring and coordination of survey support services.
